Buying guide: Knock Sensors

A knock sensor works by detecting vibration through the block, so the mounting bolt torque and the mating surface both affect the signal.

Match the OEM number on the sensor body. A sensor fitted with the wrong torque reads noise as knock and pulls timing, which feels like a power loss rather than a fault.
